FOR EDUCATION, POLITICS AND BUSINESS

Gerhard Pfister, National Councillor

Gerhard Pfister, who was born in 1962 and gained a doctorate in philosophy from the University of Basel in 1989, founded consultancy firm Pfister & Netzwerk in 2012. He is the lynchpin of Pfister & Netzwerk and – as a member of the Swiss National Council, a teacher and an entrepreneur – is very well connected in all three of the firm’s core areas: politics, education and business.

Gerhard Pfister began his political career in 1998 as a member of the Cantonal Council of Zug. As a National Councillor in Bern since 2003 and chairman of political party Die Mitte Schweiz since 2016, he knows all the ins and outs of Swiss politics and its mechanisms. As a result of the time he spent as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Elementa Group AG, Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hochalpines Institut Ftan and Co-Chairman of the Swiss Federation of Private Schools, he knows at a practical level which topics are currently occupying the educational institutions. As a former teacher, rector and managing director in the field of private education, Gerhard Pfister also has considerable personal experience of working in the school system and as an entrepreneur. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Adelheid AG rehabilitation clinic and a member of the Board of Trustees of Alfred Müller AG, as well as being involved in numerous other institutions. He is also Chairman of the Association of the Swiss Cement Industry and President of the Swiss Casino Association.
